Our Journey to Adulthood (J2A) program offers youth rich, meaningful experiences to grow in faith. In the past, we have participated on an overnight trip with CityReach in Boston. The youth work with the CityReach staff in street ministry and offer hospitality, food and clothing to those in need. CityReach staff teach the youth about homelessness and provide some activities, and youth stay overnight in a church sanctuary.

Every other year, our youth go on a week-long mission trip to Central Appalachia to volunteer with Appalachia Service Project (ASP). The goal of ASP is to make homes warmer, safer and drier for needy families in the Appalachia area. The ASP staff provides guidance on the projects, all the tools and construction materials that are needed, three meals a day, a place to stay and plenty of opportunities for worship and reflection. Over the years, our groups have gone to Kentucky and West Virginia.

Youth spend a year in advance of this trip fundraising, learning about the Appalachian region and culture, and practicing using tools in order to prepare for this life-changing experience. Our most recent trip was in July 2016, when 20 adults and youth traveled to Wyoming County, West Virginia.
